The clouds of smoke rising from steam locomotives, the sound of whistles, horns, and the smooth hum of diesel engines fill basements and garages as long freight and passenger trains curve past home-built models of American cities and towns, factories and mountains. It takes imagination and meticulous craftsmanship, but club members have created home layouts proudly featured in model railroading’s leading magazines.
